A trip to Google Headquarters, Google Glass, the Hackpocalypse, Catalyst West, Theme giveaway update, and several other things you may or may not need to know (but should be entertaining anyways).

Google Trip

This past weekend I had the opportunity to visit Google Headquarters in Mountain View California. I have a friend who is one of the Google+ developers and he was kind enough to give me a grand tour!

Just as I expected, the place was beautiful! I wasn’t allowed to take pictures inside the buildings, but I can tell you that everything just oozed with creativity. Lots of colors, plenty of space, and a fully stocked snack lounge in every building. It was an employees dream!

Glass Project

This is probably the coolest, most revolutionary invention since the iPhone (IMHO). I am dying to get my hands on Google Glass! Yea, it may seem kind of ‘Star Treky’, but they’ve done a good job of taking something potentially nerdy and making it stylish.

They are taking applications if you’d like to get your hands on a pair before it’s released publicly. Visit the official Google Glass Start Page for details.

You better make your application good though– because I’m not pulling any punches!

If you’ve been following the latest in social media and web news, you’ve probably heard that there’s a lot of hacking going on lately. Just in case you missed all the headliner hackery, here’s a brief wrap up:

And apparently MTV and BET didn’t want to miss out on an emerging trend, so they hacked their own Twitter accounts.

The more serious data breaches though have cause quite a bit of concern. It was discovered that the Chinese government may be behind it as the activity has been traced back to a restricted building in Shanghai. When BBC went to report on the building, they were seized by Chinese police and detained until they surrendered all their footage. More on the developing story can be found on Datamation.

This is all very fascinating to me. I’m convinced that the age of digital terrorism has begun and something big is building. Could we be witnessing the beginning of Hackpocalypse?!

Catalyst West

The annual convergence of Jesus-loving, creative-thinking, growth-minded hipsters is approaching quickly! I’m honored to have been given the opportunity to attend as a member of the Press/Media as a guest blogger!

If you haven’t checked out the Catalyst West website yet, it’s definitely worth checking out. Your creativity will grow by 5% just by browsing through it. Seriously.

I’ll be live blogging the event, so stay tuned for more info as it approaches!

Theme giveaway

For all of my subscribers, I’ll be sending out my next newsletter on Sunday. It will contain a link to download my previous Child Theme for free and it will also inform you of some pretty important changes to how my newsletter will be delivered from there on out.

I found a great article on Boosting Creativity in Groups. Worth a read if you do collaborative projects.

This was interesting– The Social Resume:

And lastly, my favorite find this past week– The Content Idea Generator. You type in a subject, hit ‘enter’ and it will generate titles for you. This is mind-blowingly brilliant!

As you can see from the example below, it can come up with some killer ideas! It’s not always perfect, but in just a few minutes you will be swimming in awesome ideas for your content creation needs! Click the image to visit the site.

I bet Dustin is ashamed to show his face WITHOUT Google Glass adorning his eyes, so he is going on a video strike! Or maybe he was too busy this week making sure he wasn’t hacked.

Personally…I don’t want to wear glasses…and I’m not robocop…so I’m not sure I’m in love with the idea of glass just yet…if you think people with bluetooth’s are annoying, glass might make me want to punch someone in the face. Shoot, I always forget to not let people know that I’m a jerk in real life. Forget I said anything.

Haha! You’re right that I just didn’t have time– but next week (fingers crossed) I will confidently show my Glass-free face!

And don’t worry Tyler– we accept you even though you’re a jerk.
