I don’t know about you but, this month seemed to fly by for me. On top of participating in “No Shave November” (which I’m sure you can tell from my video above) I had a lot of exciting things happen this past month! A mystery contest, some updates, and another great post by my wonderful, amazing and smokin’ hot wife! But that’s not all…

This was also a record breaking month for my site traffic, and blog comments! I literally am flabbergasted at how much this months traffic went up! As much as I’d like to take full credit for the growth of the blog (because I’m so full of myself it’s ridiculous)– I really have the community to thank! You guys are the ones sharing my content, and engaging with it. So thank you, thank you, thank you!

Now, let’s get down to brass tax… (I’ve always wanted to say that. I have no idea why.)

Top Commenters

David Willard Jr. – For what seems like centuries, this titan-commenter has held the throne for Dustn.tv. Some speculate that he may never be defeated!

Brandon – Being awesome is his second nature. He’s is literally nipping at David’s heals to win the number 1 commenter spot! Can he do it?! I think so… ;)

Valerie Joy Deveza - I’m a blogger, a virtual assistant and a SEO and Social media enthusiast. In my free time, I enjoy reading ebooks and attending webinars. I also occasionally write about the resources I am discovering.

Top Posts

Like I said in the video above, I’m leaving it to you this month to highlight the top blog posts you’ve read. Pick one blog that you’ve read in the month of November that rocked your socks off, and post it in the comments below! The only stipulation is that it cannot be one of my blog posts! (I know, crazy right!)

I can’t wait to see what you all come up with!

This month’s contest

In the video I eluded to this month’s contest. It will be posted this weekend– unless my son decides to be born and I am unable to post it. In that case, I hope you will understand. ;)

As always, thanks for a great month everyone! I can’t wait to hear your favorite posts from last month.

Oh, and one last thing– how was the month of November for you? You can leave a comment by clicking here.

  1. Im learning a ton from you and your blog.

Its great work, the look of it, the feel of it, and the helpful content. Im hoping to get there eventually!

Thanks for the inspiration. Let me know if you have any tips with Standard Theme.

    Im such a newbie…

  2. Hope things go well with the birth of your son!

My favorite blog post of the month was over at EverythingPastor- Sex is not the greatest thing in marriage

    http://www.everythingpastor.com/2011/11/28/sex-is-not-the-greatest-thing-in-marriage/

Made me think about my marriage and how I could better it.

    • Hanks for this Joe! I can’t believe I missed this one!

    • Some GREAT information but one small inaccuracy. The writters wife is obviously not in her 30s yet because a lot changes when women hit their “30s peak”. They do have a period of life where that dry spell does become a natural measure of how “good” things are going and if you are NOT remembering those other things he talked about then you are in trouble. On the flip side, not all men use sex as a measure of how “good” things are going and that is why a couple who is the same age can run into major trouble during that phase of life. However all the rest as I said is spot on and remembering the little stuff will help strengthen the marriage through that time when the bioligcal clocks are in different time zones. :-)

      • And before the emails start coming…lol…notice the quotes around “30s peak”. I understand that everyone’s experiences are different and I am only speaking from my own, but I do believe God built into woman a natural increased desire in the 30s for a reason as once they hit their 40s childbirth and conception becomes more difficult. Again something my wife and I have had to face head on as 41 year olds…lol.

I just wanted to clear that up as not to offend our newly arriving ladies :-)

        • Interesting idea David! But I can see that being God’s way to increase the chances of having children.

          • Exactly…that was my point. That’s why I pointed out that he was a bit off base because it does happen :-)

Because if you are a childless couple in you’re late 30a the frequency of sex will have a larger impact on the woman in most cases than it will the man. Hey, I think we just found another blog topic. Only I think I wl let the women take this one. ;-)

          • Whoops! Looks like I slipped in “But”… I meant to agree with you.

That could be another great topic. Find a guest blogger to do it and you are golden.

        • LOL…Um…Nooo…We’re not…That was only for dramatic effect. Yeah, that’s it.

        • I never would have guessed David was 40 either.

        • You’re funny Joe…and the fact we have never met makes it even funnier…LOL.

        • Yeah, I know David. But looking at your blog, pictures, and writing. You don’t come across as old as 40(and yes, I know 40 is not really old but I’m sure you understand what I mean).

        • I understand :-) I appreciate the compliment :-) Of course the fact I was posting those earlier replies as I was shopping at Target tends to bring me into the younger group rather than the older group..lol. My wife and I tend to fall in a weird gap age wise. Those 5 to 10 years older want nothing to do with technology and those 5 to 10 years younger can’t live without it. A lot of the people we know who are our age tend to lean towards the older group but I have kind of led us towards the younger group. We love our tech. devices :-)

  3. The month of November left me with half-way decent beard! I love your posts. Keep doing what your doing, Deepak!

    • I tried NSN, but I had to shave. I can’t grow a full beard yet. If I didn’t shave for about 2 weeks, I would look like a billy-goat! :)

      • Brandon, I had the same problem. At 2 weeks it may look pretty ragged. But you have to let it keep growing. The beard looks better the longer it stays.

          • I had a full beard until 2002 but after having it for 10 years I shaved it and now it looks terrible when I go too long without shaving. My dad on the other hand can’t grow a beard to save his life. Some guys are just not meant to have facial hair and some guys just look better without it. Not everyone needs to look like Grizzly Adams…lol

          • David, I don’t know. I think if everyone looked like Grizzly Adams, that would be pretty danged sweet. Men looking like men (-;

          • Brandon, yeah it’s good for a laugh but I think there is a lesson in growing a beard.

It teaches patience and humility. You must wait and be patient while it grows. You must also be willing to put up with the humiliation of a bad beard.

However, once your beard has grown in, it is a thing of great pride. People admire it, they want to touch it.

          • Well, when it come to Grizzly Adams I had it covered in the 90′s…LOL. There is a pic of me holding my daughter when she was first born and with full beard and curly hair that was long enough at one time to pony tail I was Grizzly alright. Perhaps more Adams Family than mountain man though…LOL.

I like your take on the patience of growing a beard however I’m not so sure on the everyone touching it aspect ;-)

          • David, that had to have been an epic beard. I have never been to the point of being able to pony tail it. Wish I could.

Though I do remember getting a haircut after having not shaved for quite some time. It was probably close to being able to be pony tailed.

Well, we do a lot of work in the youth group… The kids love my beard. They would ask if they could touch it. Always hilarious hearing them ask it.

Hmmm… Now this conversation has made me think of writing a leadership post regarding beards. Maybe 5 Leadership Lessons Learned From Growing A Beard?

          • LOL…Now we are talking Epic. My life, My Beard and what it taught me…lol. I can understand the kids facination with beards though. I played one of “Santa’s Helpers” 6 years in a row for our company and the kids just love to check out that long white beard to see if it’s real. Of course at that point it wasn’t…LOL.

          • David, that is an awesome title for a blog. Do you mind if I use it?

I could see the beard post overtaking all of my other posts. Beards just have an allure about them.

          • That is true!

    • The correlation of the exesstential cosmic appearance of the evolutionary manifestation of what you believe to be a “halfway decent beard” is the residual accumulation of your evolution… I completely forgot where I was going with this… ;)

  4. Awesome month! I strive to have a site become successful like yours!

And…we’ll see…but I think I might have a chance at beating the champ this month! haha

  5. By the way, did you know that you can make your blog have snow falling from it? WordPress is letting you check the box under general settings that allows it until jan 4th!

I have it on my site right now…it’s pretty cool!

  6. I can see by Brandons comments above that it could be extremely difficult to unseat any of the Top 3 Commentors. Nonetheless, I also enjoy your blog. Thanks for the great content. I especially appreciated your post this month about getting your own domain. I havent acted on it yet, but Ill get there.

As far as other blogger posts this month, I really liked a recent post by The Seeking Pastor titled THE Blog Post ( http://seekingpastor.wordpress.com/2011/11/30/the-blog-post/ ).

My blog did pretty well this month. I seem to be experiencing slow but steady growth. My most active post this month was titled Paterno and Grace: Is There Any Chance They Go Together? Heres the link: http://wp.me/pCPhx-mA

    Keep up the great stuff!

  7. Ousted from my podium finish in commenting :( Heh

My favorite thing all month was something Justin Taylor posted, linking to Stand To Reason’s recent articles on hearing God.

    http://thegospelcoalition.org/blogs/justintaylor/2011/11/17/hearing-gods-whisper/

    • Yeah…what’s up with that? You let a girl in the door? I mean Dustin already has Rina posting for him, now you open the door to the comment podium? Pretty soon Dustin is gonna have Judah on here moderating out sexist comments like these even though everyone knows they are completely in jest :-) Just keeping the conversation rolling as Dustin is busy with the new babe. Wow! The December month in review is going to be huge!

    • I can’t wait to read this one! Thanks Loren– and never give up and never surrender!

  8. Thanks for the mention Dustn! I’m really enjoying my stay here. And yeah! I was 1 comment ahead from Brandon and David before I went to bed. I guess that’s my mistake – going to bed on the last minute! LOL!

Here’s my fav post – Maybe because I want to convince our CEO to leverage social media.
    http://www.thesaleslion.com/how-convince-ceo-managment-embrace-social-media-blogging/

  9. Woo Hoo!!!! The contest is going to be delayed!!!! For those who are confused by this….see the contest paragraph above :-)

  10. Okay…so I wanted to add a blog post to the list of top blogs for the month. While mine is a MAJOR blog NASCAR.com I felt this post in particular has a great lesson in it so I chose to include it since it represents something that would not normally make the pages of Dustn.tv :-)

When you read this, keep in mind that the driver they are speaking of is a very talented winning driver who won the championship in 2004 and could win again. Enjoy:

    http://www.nascar.com/news/111205/dcaraviello-kbusch-own-worst-enemy/index.html

  11. Yea… on a second thought, I don’t think it would play well, visually, on my site. :/

  12. What have I started…??? [lol]

  13. Normally, I wouldn’t be caught dead reading anything about NASCAR– unless it was featuring Ricky Bobby. But since this is from you, David, I’ll give it a read! ;)

    • LOL…well, His brother Kyle does act like he has “Shake n Bake” syndrome, but I did offer this up because it has to do with what happens when you let your frustration about a bad season get to you or when you don’t think about your actions before you react. I felt it had a message that reached out beyond the sport.

Of course the fact I got you to read NASCAR means I can now greet you with “Boogity Boogity Boogity” the next time I see you…LOL.

  14. Argh! 50-61 comments? LOL! You just made me guys realize that boys are really talkative hahaha! Ooops! :P

    • If talkative is code for competitive I would agree…lol. But it’s all good, I’m glad to see the comments taking off and I’m sure Dustin is going nuts thinking of new content for us to comment on. I even posted a new blog last night to my own site as a result of all the conversation and I am working on another now hopefully for later this week.

  15. I wanted to wish all of you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. It has been an awesome month getting to know all the new commenters and having fun with commenters new and old. I hope everyone has a safe Christmas celebration and I pray the Lord blesses you with health and prosperity in the coming year.

Dustin…I can not wait to see the December month in review. How you managed to keep it all going is a testament to your faith and skills. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you, Rina and Judah as well.

    God Bless You All :-)

  16. I’m pretty excited! ^_^ his baby is pretty cute by the way!

  17. What about 3D contacts??? Maybe…?

  18. this will be a fun December for all of us! I bet Brandon and David will agree with that! *wink

  19. Depending on your hosting provider, it may or may not slow your site down. Depends on how well the plugin is built also.

  20. I may test this out! Thanks Joe!

  21. Awesome Jon! I’ll be sure to check both of those out!

  22. Hold on… there is no way you guys are 40…

  23. That’s ok Brandon… it took me till the age of 22 to actually get a “full” growth. ;)

  24. Good… stay that way Valerie! Haha!

  25. I really love how this is keeping me on my “comment-reply” toes… I feel like I’m in the P90X of comment reply training!.. getting me ready to be the next Michael Hyatt. lol ;)

  26. It has the feel of a NASCAR race for me. The top of the feild is running away with the comment lead and it’s going to come down to a 4 horse race for the Top Commenters spot this month…lol. Perhaps you need to offer up a mid month mistery prize to bring some of these single digit commenters into the mix. Don’t get me wrong, I am enjoying the conversation and all but really I would love to see YOU sweat trying to keep up with a dozen people leaving a handful of comments daily as you juggle diapering and feeding…LOL.

  27. um… that’s sound awesome… I usually don’t like watching things in 3D because the glasses are always off in some way… Glasses-free 3D sounds like the best thing since Retina Displays!

  28. Okay…agreed, 3d contacts would be cool, but can you imagine trying to share those as you get on the Star Tours Ride at Disneyland? Ewww! LOL

Remember the old fashion ones that had one eye blue and one red and that’s how it made things appear really close? What if you got them in backwards? Would everything appear far away?

    Okay…Yes, I’m with the glasses free 3d…lol.

  29. That’s funny right there…I don’t care who ya are…lol.
