This edition of Monday Monologue may or may not include the following:

  • Recap of last weeks new series (2 of them)
  • Extreme bear wrestling
  • A teaser of my next controversial blog post
  • Me mispronouncing several words (see if you can catch them)
  • One hundred billion dollars

I guess you’ll just have to watch the video, or read the post below to find out which of those is actually in the video.

Blog Design Essentials Launches

I published the anchor post for the series, but didn’t get the chance to publish the first topic which will be: Blog Design Starts With A Solid Theme. If you’ve been here a while, you’ll undoubtedly know which theme I’ll be focusing on. However, I’ll try not to beat the Standard Theme horse to death, I plan on giving you some specific things to look for when shopping around for a free or premium blogging theme.

Things I Couldn’t Say While Working For The Church

The first post of the series, “Academic Idolatry: Why Did My Child Fall Away?“, got published yesterday. It’s not the most controversial of topics that I will be covering, but it has gotten some pushback. I actually expected more– but I guess I’m not the only one that has this conviction.

I wanted to clarify that I am in no way against Academic or Scholastic education. On the contrary, I’m all for it! I will encourage my son to pursue his school studies with diligence. The primary point is that Jesus should alway take precedence over everything. Growing in knowledge, understanding, and intimacy with God should be the single most important thing in our lives.

I would also like to note that our spiritual life should never be separated or compartmentalized from any area in our lives. Everything we do is spiritual– one way or another. Something is either drawing you closer to God, or pulling you away. I hope to tackle this in more detail down the road.

Teaser Time

My next blog post in the “What I Couldn’t Say” series (which I eluded to in the previous one) is another conviction I’ve prayed over for some time. It will be titled “Stop Inviting People To Church“. It will undoubtedly get some pushback, but my prayer is that it causes people to think differently about our American Church Culture. I think we’ve become lazy. I think we could be more. I think Jesus deserves more.
