March 2012 Month In Review And Contest Winners Announced

It has officially been one year since I first launched Dustn.tv! It’s been a huge growing experience for me. I’ve learned a lot, created a lot, and most of all I’ve shared some awesome conversations. To celebrate my one year anniversary I’m giving away one of the most valuable things I poses– my time!

Last month I issued a contest that would give 3 winners an opportunity to be my very first students in a Master Class that I am developing. It is going to be a 4 week class meeting once a week via Google+ Hangout where I evaluate and coach each participant to taking their online presence to the next level.

Before I announce the winners, I wanted to update you on what’s been going on with me over the past month.

March 2012 Month In Review

You know, it figures as soon as I clarify that the videos I record are actually made in my backyard, I decide to up and move. Yes, I’ve moved, and that gorgeous pool that you all wished you could jump into will no longer be making an appearance.

The reasons for the move are numerous, but I won’t bore you. Long story short, I got offered a job that I couldn’t refuse. And I don’t mean that in a “Tony Soprano made me an offer I couldn’t refuse” sort of way. I was blessed with an opportunity to work with a team of creative people that are making an IMPACT on churches all over the country.

On top of that I decided it was finally time to design myself some awesome new business cards. :)

So between adjusting to the new job, moving, and designing some beautiful new business cards it’s been a busy month. In the midst of the business God has been feeding me a lot of ideas that I think will greatly benefit the community here at dustn.tv.

I only managed to publish 3 times this week, so I don’t think there is a need for me to do the top 3 posts. But in case you were wondering, the top 3 traffic driving posts were actually not published last month!

Without further ado

Last month I initiated a contest and a point system that would award 3 socially savvy participants the chance to be my first students in a 4-week long master class that will take their online efforts to the next level. The following three winners scored higher than anyone else in the month of March.

Contest winners:

Valerie – 68,000 points

With an onslaught of tweets sent my way, Valerie dominated the competition. She realized quick that she couldn’t let a lack of fresh content slow her down, she went back into the archives to find some of my best stuff and re-share it. I think it’s safe to say she’s a twaddict. ;)

Joe – 63,000 points

Following the same technique as Valerie, Joe sent a huge amount of tweets my way. Not to mention he was one of the top commenters!

David – 56,000 points

The commenting King maintained his reputation and kept his commenting title giving him a big enough advantage in points so that he didn’t need to send as many social links.

This contest really kept me on my toes this month. Counting every Tweet, comment, and +mention had me paying close attention and making lots of notes! Thank you all for participating. This won’t be the last time I do a contest like this!

Congrats to the winners! I will be contacting you all by email to give you the details of the class start-date, time, and homework (yes, there will be homework)!

There will be much more going on this month so stay tuned!

  1. I’m impressed Dustin! I thought your site had been around much longer than a year. It looks like you’re doing things right in growing a dedicated following and creating a kick-butt site!

And congrats on being offered a new job! Hopefully it is a blessing to you and your wife.

How was my March? To be honest, it rocked. My site saw incredible growth, the weather was terrific, and I felt I made progress in my life.

  2. Awesome to hear, Dustin! Are you still in CA? And I love the business cards…what company did you use to make them?

  3. By the way, I will be getting twitter in 3 weeks…so I will start tweeting your posts!

  4. Wow! Congrats on the new job and one year with the blog. I will miss seeing the pool, but that’s ok. Maybe I will love the background to your videos even more now! :)

Congrats to the winners! I’m just not quite there yet to be able to comment a lot. But my commenting on your blog was way up last month. It was a pretty stellar contest. Enjoy the class Valerie, Joe, and David!

    • Thanks Erin! I’ll be missing that backyard too. Hopefully I can find a suitable replacement since we live in a complex of condos.

      • If you are above the 1st story, you can film an awesome video of dropping different fruits from the top! haha…wait, that might get you in trouble! :)

        • LOL…How did I miss this. I can see Dustin doing this, but only if he has a legit reason. So now we need to come up with a creative reason that he should be dropping fruit from a balcony.

  5. So far I have spent a good portion of March and now April recovering from illnesses I acquired from overdoing it at Disneyland…lol. Thankfully all the birthdays are out of the way and the new attractions don’t open until June. So there are no plans to visit the House of Mouse until the summer, so now I can spend some time at home vertical again..lol.
