I was recently interviewed for the SaveTheArtist.net podcast. The final question in the interview was, “For an artist just starting out on their first big project, what’s the one piece of advice you’d give them?”
The only answer I could come up with was something I talked about last month that I haven’t been able to get out of my head. It may just be my phrase for 2012, and it’s simply this:
Forget what you know, and dream big.
As life has recently thrown me some lemons, and if you’ve listened to my last month in review, you know that I am on an exciting journey. Nothing to me is more fitting than dreaming bigger. But I know I’m not alone in my struggle to dream bigger, so as of right now, I’m issuing a community challenge– I challenge you to dream bigger with me.
As a way of constantly reminding myself to “Dream Big“, I’ve gone and created an iOS wallpaper that I will see every time I turn on my phone. And just because I want you to dream big also, I’ve uploaded it here for you to save and use on your iPhone as well!
On top of that, I created an alternate Android version for those of you who insist on having more complicated lives (I’m just kidding Android lovers– don’t go all “anti-apple” on me)! Have you ever thought about how difficult it is to create a quality wallpaper for a device that has so many screen resolutions and doesn’t just have one orientation?
Yea, me neither, until today. But I finally figured it out, and I’m now smarter because of it.
All you have to do is click on the images below, save it to your device, and set it as your wallpaper. Enjoy!
Thanks to Emilie Eggleston for helping me work out the Android dimensions! As a fellow designer, I knew she was the perfect person to test out the Android designs. I couldn’t have figured it out without her help!
Where are the areas in life where you need to dream bigger? Will you be taking this challenge with me? You can leave a comment by clicking here.

That was my favorite part of the interview! Fantastically simple advice with the chance to impact so many areas of your life. And the wallpaper just helps to remind me.
Thanks again for doing the interview!
You’re very welcome Chase!
Thanks for the shoutout, Dustin! I’m now using this wallpaper as my new background. Great work and a simple truth–Dream Big!
We are children of this great, expanding universe, by and large!
You’re welcome Emilie!
Thanks for making these!
You’re welcome Brandon!
As a business owner, I need to dream bigger! When others ask me “what I do?”, I default to telling them what I do in my day job. I believe I’ll have to take this challenge with you.
Awesome! How will you dream bigger? What will you now tell people when they ask you what you do? I know that God’s doing some awesome things in your lives, so I’m guessing it should have something to do with that…?
Personally, it starts with getting past the fear of rejection! And, YES! There’s a, definite, desire to see some big things happen in our community.
I don’t have a fancy phone, so at this point I’m not even sure how to get the background on there, but it is now my laptop background. I also laughed at your comment about Android lovers. I’m neutral in the matter, but I have been recently introduced to the fact that if you are an Android lover you are an iPhone hater. So silly. I guess people like what they like.
As far as dreaming big – I was dreaming big about ministry and where God was taking me as he sent me back to school from my masters, but I have lost that vision a bit so this is a good reminder of it. Thanks for that.
You’re welcome Erin! I may have to add a bonus desktop wallpaper just for you.
Check back later today.
Wow, Masters huh? That’s awesome! Don’t loose sight of why you began the journey in the first place. Maybe revisit what God told you when you decided to go after it…?
Dreaming big for my writing. Looking forward to having the wall paper on my phone. I accept the challenge to dream more and bigger.
Awesome Dan! How will you be dreaming bigger? Put it out there for us to watch and see it unfold!
I’m starting to write an eBook and want to write more in the future.
Can’t wait to read it!
Thank you Brandon.
Dustin, Dustin, Dustin… Again no love for the BlackBerry. Now you are playing with the R2D2 phones even…lol. Okay, so maybe it’s just because the BlackBerry does all the work of making a picture a wallpaper for you
And maybe this is the 3rd attempt at posting this because you have set you new server to be pro iPhone
But seriously… I am so excited to see what God has in store for you and to see it all unfold right here is awesome. You are taking His prompting with such gusto and it is just an inspiration to those who read you blog. To see your work getting recognized oin more and more places is just awesomesauce!!
Our God Is Greater!!
what about the LG Cosmos? That is the phone I have… It calls, texts, and can even send a 1.3 megapixil pictures! Haha
Wow… Slow down there McFly!
LOL…Sorry Brandon, Dustin won’t give the BB any love I doubt he’s gonna give LG even a nod. Fortunately only the iPhone really needs the wallpaper custom made. Either of those pics above will probably work on your phone. It may auto crop it a little to fit but like my BlackBerry it will take Dustin’s hard work and make it fit.
So….Dustin…When are you gonna run a poll on your blog to see who’s rockin’ what phones? I know the numbers will be in the iPhone column for now but I’d love to see just how many BlackBerry fans are hiding out here.
LG cosmos fans?!!!
Doesn’t that run on Android? I think for the most part everything that isn’t a BB or iPone runs on Droid or Windows. As for the device itself…their all the same just different bodies…LOL. Chomping at the bit for BB10 devices later this year myself
