I started this blog on March 1, 2011, so it’s not quite lived a full year yet. However in the 9 short months that this blog has existed, a number of awesome things have taken place. Here’s a brief recap:
- March 2011 Blog Launch – woo-hoo!
- How To Social Media Series – huge success.
- Judgment Day – didn’t happen.
- Google+ – changed social media whether you realize it or not.
- My wife started blogging!
- We had our first child – a son!
On top of all that, there were a total of 90 blog posts that I published this year. In those 90 blog posts, there were over 1,892 comments! Holy-moly! You guys sure can comment up a storm! I’m pretty sure by the time this blog hits it’s 1 year anniversary in March, we’ll pass the 2,000 mark.
Here are the top 11 posts from 2011:
A set of best practices for using Twitter, but with a creative, Biblical twist. This one was a lot of fun, and to date has been the most popular post I’ve ever written. It was so popular, in fact, that I did a follow up to it — Visualized: The Ten Twitter Commandments.
Manage Your Social Media Networks Like A Pro
In this post I wrote about how to manage multiple social accounts. It’s really helpful if you’re on Facebook and Twitter and don’t want the hassle of having to update them both one at a time. I went through all the best professional tools for social media management that I know of, and their benefits.
The Ultimate Google+ Tutorial Site
Here, I covered the number one place on the internet for Google+ Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials. Well, I have to say that I’m a bit bias because I co-founded the site with my friend James Brooks.
Becoming A Social Media Rockstar
This is a current series that I’ve been writing that takes you through the process of going from an average Joe to a social media Pro. No matter where you’re at in your knowledge and use of social media, this series can at least help you get to that next level of social rockstardom!
There are few things that boil my blood more than a wolf in sheep’s clothing. I wrote this post to identify the false doomsday preacher Harold Camping. I gave the biblical case as to why he was wrong in saying he knew when the end of the world was going to be. I wrote it in hopes to expose his false teaching and save some who might be led astray by him.
Being Sexually Impure Is Like…
An analogy I came up with on the dangers of sexual immorality. The bible is very clear on how we are to guard our purity, and this analogy puts it into perspective.
3 Lessons From My First Year Of Marriage
This was my wife’s first blog post ever, and man was it a good one! She goes over the 3 most important things she’s learned in our first year of marriage together. I’m so proud of her!
You’ve Heard Of P90X – This Is C40X!
After Easter this year, I thought it would be a great idea to remember that Jesus was alive on the earth for 40 days before he ascended back into Heaven. So I created a 40-day reading play through the entire New Testament!
13 Sites For Creative Inspiration
We all need to stay creatively inspired. I gathered a list of 13 sites that are great for all sorts of inspiration, no matter what your medium. These are all sites that I try to visit once a week, if not daily. This would be a good one to bookmark.
How Will You Respond On May 21?
This was a follow up post to the Harold Camping post. It was on my heart to make sure that we Christians were prepared on May 21st to respond in a way that would show Jesus to those who were in for a huge surprise when he didn’t return, and they are left feeling ashamed.
The Science Of Social Timing Infographic
I wrote this post 2 weeks ago, and it made it to the top 11 posts of 2011. That is saying something. It expounds on another post that I wrote about effective timing, but adds a lot more data, and it just plain looks pretty!
And before I leave the topic of 2011 and talk about 2012, there’s one last thing I have to announce:
The Dustn.tv Comment Champion of 2011:
David Willard Jr.
David held down the top commenter position for 8 out of the 9 months that this blog has existed! I think that definitely deserves a round of applause! On top of the round of applause, I’m also awarding David with 1 hour of blogging and social media consultation ($50 value) and a design consult for his blog ($300 value)! As long as he accepts, I will also be buying him Starbucks for our session.
Congratulations David! And thanks for leading the discussion here at Dustn.tv!
I also want to thank the other Top Commenters for the month of December:
Joseph Lalonde – Joe has a desire to inspire you to become a better leader. To help you inspire others.
Brandon – Being awesome is his second nature. He’s is literally nipping at David’s heals to win the number 1 commenter spot! Can he do it?! I think so…
Valerie Joy Deveza - I’m a blogger, a virtual assistant and a SEO and Social media enthusiast. In my free time, I enjoy reading ebooks and attending webinars. I also occasionally write about the resources I am discovering.
Thank you all for keeping the discussions thriving, and for continuing to share!

Really enjoy your stuff – best wishes and Blessings for 2012.
Thanks Peter!
I’m still wondering if he is not carving fish or not carving wood into fish? Cuz I think a post on wittlin’ would be a real winner! LOL!

WOW!! How completely AWESOME! I love winning stuff but this means I will really have to follow through and write the stuff I keep thinking about…lol. I mean if I am going to have this awesomesauce looking blog I can’t let it just sit…lol. I am glad your blog has done so well and I am glad I was able to be a part of the conversation. I look forward to another month of rousing conversation, I just hope I have fewer people chasing me for the top seat this month
Oh, I hope there will be even more competition with a reward like I just gave away! haha!
Guess I should start my keyboard exercises now. Cuz someone said “REWARD!” But still no fish carving
Haha.. congrats David!hope we’ll have more fun this year!
Congrats on a great year!
My blog experienced some amazing things this year as well. I think they will be a spring board to some great things in 2012. One thing that I’m hoping to do this year is take my blog to the next level with my own domain name. I’d also like to pursue self hosting and a new theme. It should be an exciting year!
Well then you’ll like what I have in store for the final parts of the Social Media Rockstar series! I’ll be talking about setting up your domain, then what it means to go “self-hosted”.
If you need any help, don’t hesitate to ask!
Such a great idea to post the review of the year.
I wasn’t aware that your Blog is only 9 months old! So excited to see how this community grows!
I can’t wait to read more about your experiences as husband and daddy in future, since I might enter this “season” in not too far future myself.
May your success multiply this year!
Thanks so much Daniel!
Will there be any spiritual advice from “Deepak” Stout? Just wondering!
Deepak Stout may make an appearance… we’ll see.
